The Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges (MACC) supports a range of statewide initiatives and partnerships that strengthen student success, workforce development, and collaboration across the Commonwealth.
Partnerships
The Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges (MACC) engages in partnerships and strategic collaborations with K–12 public education, state agencies, business and industry, and state and national higher education organizations. Key partnerships include, but are not limited to:
- Developing Statewide Articulation Agreements with Chapter 74 Vocational Technical Schools
- The Massachusetts Department of Developmental Disabilities Human Services Training Program
- Northeastern University Partnership provides Massachusetts community college faculty and staff with access to graduate education programs, including tuition discounts and flexible online options to support professional growth.
Statewide Initiatives
The Massachusetts Association of Community Colleges (MACC) actively pursues grant opportunities and other alternative sources of funding to further enhance the ability of schools statewide to serve a diverse population. These initiatives support programs that are integral to student success at the community colleges by aligning academic programs with in-demand fields and helping students remain on clear pathways to completion. Some of the best examples of such programs are:
- SUCCESS Program (Supporting Urgent Community College Equity through Student Services)
- A statewide initiative that provides targeted support to community college students to help them persist, complete their programs, and achieve their educational and career goals. Through enhanced advising, wraparound services, and coordinated campus support, SUCCESS helps remove barriers and create clear pathways to completion.
- Guided Pathways to Success in STEM (GPSTEM)
- A $20 million dollar grant from the federal government to assist the 15 community colleges in creating articulated pathways from the classroom, to in demand careers in STEM fields.
- The Transformation Agenda
- A $20 Million USDOL TAACCCT Grant awarded to a consortia of all 15 community colleges that ran from 2011- 2014
