From the Executive Officer
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
The community colleges in Massachusetts are committed to offering access to high quality and affordable academic programs, excellence in teaching and learning, and providing pathways for student success. Our institutions prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions, developmental coursework, lifelong learning opportunities, and high-demand occupational fields. At the same time, our unique mission underlines our dedication to workforce development through partnerships with business and industry and as providers of job training, retraining, certification, and skills improvement.
The Massachusetts Community Colleges Executive Office (MCCEO) works on behalf of the community college presidents to create and expand partnerships at the state-level that can benefit each community college across the Commonwealth. A great example is the sustained success of the PACE initiative, which continues to save money for our colleges and their students in avoided costs and savings by using the leverage of 24 public colleges and universities. To date, more than $18 million of savings have been realized in this area.
Our community colleges continue to serve the largest population of students in public higher education, working to help more than 184,000 students meet their education and career goals. Our institutions are rooted in our communities, and we are proud to be the backbone of local and regional economic development. I invite you to learn more about the activities and initiatives undertaken by MCCEO to support and highlight the success happening at the 15 community colleges in Massachusetts.
